Hamersley Gorge, WA – LELS1206

Hamersley Gorge is in the Pilbara region of West Australia – the heart of iron ore country. What inspired me to take this photograph was the fascinating contrast between the smooth, pale bark of the boab tree and the wave-like folds of rich, red rock behind. It also appeals because its’ not quite like a photograph, but has an abstract quality. This is my favourite picture and it’s also the most popular, with just twelve remaining in the edition.
